Mount Hope Dental | Guided Bone Regeneration in Mount Hope

Guided Bone Regeneration

Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) is the process by which bone is added to an area with insufficient bulk. This is often done before implant placement, but may also be performed before fabrication of a bridge or other prosthesis. The bone used in grafting is either taken from another site in the patient's mouth ("autograft"), taken from an animal donor ("xenograft"), or a combination of the two.

The pictures below demonstrate an upper front tooth affected by severe bone loss. The tooth was extracted and a Guided Bone Regeneration procedure was performed. The bone height was restored to an ideal level so that the future implant can be placed in proper position.
